2017 CFP - Ontario Bridge Training Program for Internationally Trained Individuals

Description

The Ontario Bridge Training Program (OBTP) supports the transition of skilled immigrants into Ontario’s labour market at a level commensurate with their skills and experience. The OBTP funds programs that help prepare participants to complete licensure/certification processes for regulated professions, obtain employment in regulated or high-skill non-regulated occupations, transition their skills to alternative careers, and improve economic integration by working on a system-wide basis.

Eligible organizations may apply for funding to one of the following categories:

    1. Pilot Funding for New Ontario Bridge Training Projects – Getting a License and Getting a Job

    2. Pilot Funding for New Ontario Bridge Training Projects – Changing the System

    3. Pilot Funding for New Ontario Bridge Training Projects – Francophone Bilingual Employment

Eligibility Requirements

Organization Eligibility Criteria

Organizations eligible to apply to this CFP include broader public sector organizations such as municipal governments, publicly-funded postsecondary institutions and school boards, and not-for-profit organizations that meet the following criteria:

  • Be incorporated for at least two (2) years;
  • Have an elected governing Board of Directors;
  • Have bylaws that outline procedures for reporting and accounting to their membership or the public for the organization’s operations and performance;
  • Satisfy the Ministry that it has adequate governance structures and accountability processes to properly administer and manage public funds and to provide the services for which Transfer Payment Grant Agreements are made; and
  • Satisfy the Ministry that it has relevant, accurate, and timely financial reporting and audited financial statements.

Participant Eligibility Criteria

The Ontario Bridge Training Program is designed for all internationally trained individuals who are newcomers to Ontario, ensuring equal treatment of Canadian citizens, permanent residents, convention refugees, refugees and refugee claimants who are eligible to work in Ontario.

Internationally trained individuals who have completed post-secondary education in Canada, temporary foreign workers, individuals without post-secondary credentials, international students and provincial nominees are not eligible for services funded by the Ontario Bridge Training Program.
