Workplace Electric Vehicle Charging Incentive Program

Description

As part of the Climate Change Action Plan, the government is taking action to increase the number of electric vehicle charging opportunities in Ontario in an effort to accelerate the electrification of transportation. The Workplace Electric Vehicle Charging Incentive Program (WEVCIP) will support employers and commercial building owners and managers that wish to provide level 2 electric vehicle chargers for their employees or workplace tenants by providing 80 per cent of the initial cost, up to $7,500 per charging space, subject to meeting eligibility and technical requirements.

Deadline

Thank you for your interest in the Workplace Electric Vehicle Charging Incentive Program.

Applications have now closed as the program funds have been exhausted. If you have already submitted your application and did not receive a notification of approval, you will be placed on a waitlist (subject to eligibility). Funding may become available as projects are completed or if additional funding is identified.

If you did not apply but are interested in the program, please email WEVCIP@ontario.ca and you will be notified if the Ministry begins accepting applications again.

Eligibility Requirements

Incentives are limited to legal entities that have locations in Ontario. They must also have Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) business number. Eligible Applicants to the Program include businesses, property management companies, building owners, municipalities, Indigenous communities or organizations, local distribution companies, universities, non-governmental organizations, not-for-profit organizations, conservation authorities, consolidated entities (school boards, colleges and hospitals) and other legal entities. The federal and provincial government, and their respective ministries, departments, entities, agencies, and Crown corporations are not eligible to apply. Individuals are also not eligible to apply.

Eligible Applicants must provide parking spaces dedicated for their employees (or tenant’s employees). In cases where the Applicant is not the owner of the property where chargers are being installed (e.g. leased property), the owner must indicate consent through the appropriate section of the application form.
